Frequently asked questions

Answers to common questions about our office and how we work.

Do I need an appointment?

Yes. Consultations are by appointment so that we can give your concern proper time. Call or text 0917-823-0577 to schedule one. Notarial services are available during office hours.

How much is a consultation?

Fees depend on the matter. You may ask about the consultation fee when you call or text to schedule. If you decide to engage us, the scope of work and fees are set out in a written agreement before any work begins.

Is what I tell you confidential?

Yes. What you share with us in a consultation is kept confidential, in line with the lawyer's duty of confidentiality and the Data Privacy Act.

Will you automatically handle my case after a consultation?

Not automatically. Before accepting a case, we check for conflicts of interest and discuss with you whether and how we can help.

Do you offer online consultations?

Yes. Online consultations by video call are available upon request. You may request one through our Send a concern page, or by calling or texting 0917-823-0577.

Can I send my documents before the consultation?

Yes. You may send your concern and documents through our Send a concern page so that a lawyer can review them first. This does not yet create a lawyer-client relationship.

Do you handle cases outside Davao City?

Yes. We appear before courts and quasi-judicial bodies throughout the Philippines.

What should I bring to my first consultation?

Bring the documents related to your concern, such as contracts, receipts, titles, notices or court papers. Our consultation page has a checklist for common concerns.

I received a summons or a subpoena. What should I do?

Do not ignore it. Court and prosecutor notices often have short deadlines. Bring the document and its envelope to a lawyer as soon as possible.

Can you notarize a document if the signatory is not present?

No. Every person signing must appear personally before the notary public and present a valid government ID with photo and signature.

I don't have a prepared document. Can you make one?

Yes. We can draft affidavits, deeds, contracts, powers of attorney and other documents. Bring the details of the transaction and the parties.

What if I cannot afford a lawyer?

Free legal assistance may be available from the Public Attorney's Office (PAO) or the legal aid program of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), subject to their requirements.

Do you give legal advice through Facebook or text?

We can answer general questions about our office and schedule appointments by text, call or email. Legal advice on your specific situation is given during a consultation, after we have heard the facts and seen your documents.
